Normally my blog is based on fashion and style tips, ideas, help and so on. However, the other day when I sat down to start jotting down notes on how to finish off any look with accessories, hats, bag, etc (that blog coming soon)..I just felt like I wanted to change it up this time - and instead remind my friends and their friends and so on, how incredible we are! Let's be honest - this can be a tough gig - Mom life - and it's nice to hear from one another "You know what - take a bow!"
It clicked easily the other day--as I was chatting with a close friend of mine on the phone about our current going ons - class project costumes, book reports, glue gun refills, homework, gymnastics and sports practice, household chores, our businesses, husbands (and their businesses), exercise, grocery store runs, fevers and sore throats - all these things occurring over a 24 hour period between the two of us. And it hit me when I got off the phone--we all should be so darn proud of ourselves.
We all work so hard to provide our children with such an amazing and impressionable environment. So, I called that friend back to tell her just that. Be proud Mama. You (we) are doing an amazing job. Our kids will remember these efforts as they grow..I sure do. Which leads me to my point today - and all days...don't forget to treat YOUrself.
Give yourself a pat on the back: get the extra 10 minute massage at the nail place, have a second glass of wine, forgo the homemade coffee and take yourself to Starbucks, plan a Wednesday date night with your main squeeze, get a scoop of ice cream along with your kiddos, buy yourself a new bracelet or pair of earrings, buy a new tee (a nice one-not Target) or a pair of sandals, call a friend and TALK not text, read a book or mag, see a movie, sneak out for a walk with a friend. Just don't forget to treat yourself to something nice at a least a couple times a week. It doesn't need to cost a fortune or take a ton of time. It's a simple way of keeping you YOU. And to me - it's a fashion necessity because when you're happy - it shows on the surface.
I was asked the other day what I like most about my job and not to sound hokey or cliché but it's truly making other women happy and give them a reason to treat themselves to something just for THEM. This doesn't feel like a job but more a reminder to each client I meet - we all need to feel special and individual. It can be easy to forget to do that in the midst of the craziness...and I'm happy to be the reminder!
I'm extremely proud to be a mom to my kids and a wife to my husband - but I'm also proud to know all of you and raise these minions amongst you incredible forces. Keep it up ladies...
Now off to chip away at the five loads of laundry staring at me but...tonight...I watch MY Netflix in peace.
